Senior SAS Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Create Excel and PDF reports using Base SAS according to business requirements documents.
  • Participate in requirements and design sessions, and then develop and implement new system components or fixes using business intelligence software and related tools.
  • Review and understand business requirements, seeking clarification when needed, and adhering to standard change control and configuration management practices.
  • Incorporate source code reuse wherever possible to optimize efficiency and maintainability.
  • Set up and execute component tests, as well as track and document system defects.
  • Participate in software design and programming reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Recommend improvements to design and programming standards, procedures, and guidelines based on experience and best practices.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems that arise during system development and maintenance.
  • Effectively interact with both business and technical staff, facilitating clear understanding and collaboration.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related work experience in SAS application design and programming is required
  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field
  • Self-starter attitude and the ability to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation to support the platform.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, particularly in the healthcare sector, is preferred, along with familiarity with system administration and on-call processes.
