Responsibilities:
- Work with business partners to define needs, including when requirements are vague or still taking shape
- Translate business needs into clear requirements and tasks for data engineering and BI developers
- Review existing reports, spreadsheets, and ERP-driven processes to document current-state logic
- Analyze and validate data hands-on to confirm assumptions and guide how data is modeled in the platform
- Define solution scope and hand off well-documented requirements to the build team
- Monitor data quality and catch issues before they reach business users
- Troubleshoot data problems and partner with data engineering on upstream root causes
- Support business teams through build, testing, and rollout to drive full adoption
- Build strong working relationships with business users, IT groups, and the enterprise data team
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis or data engineering roles
- SQL: Strong querying and data manipulation skills for analysis, validation, and modeling decisions
- Requirements: Proven ability to gather requirements and reverse-engineer existing reports and systems
- Data Modeling: Dimensional modeling and star schema design
- Power BI: Semantic models and report development for prototyping and validation
- Platforms: Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern data platform
- AI Tools: Practical use of AI assistants (such as Claude or GitHub Copilot) for SQL, data profiling, and documentation, with full ownership of accuracy
- Strong communicator who builds trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-directed and curious, comfortable creating clarity in ambiguous situations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
